The Chief Judge, along with the District Court Administrator, manages the state administrative duties of the Milwaukee circuit courts.  Wisconsin state statutes and Supreme Court rules assign more than 70 administrative duties to chief judges.  Along with their deputies, they work on budgeting; managing personnel; communicating with county boards on issues related to the courthouse facilities, security and staffing.  The Chief Judge coordinates the judicial assignments of the 47 elected circuit court judges and the 22 court commissioners in Milwaukee County.

The Clerk of Circuit Court maintains all records for the circuit courts, accepts payments for fines and forfeitures, maintains the online records, staffs the courts and offices, and provides many other functions.  The Clerk manages a department of over 300 people and a budget of almost $43 million.  If you have questions about court records, want to pay a fine or forfeiture, or have been summoned to be a juror, you would need to contact the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court.  The Clerk's office has three separate division:  Civil, Criminal & Traffic and Children's.
